13tracks is a creative project that explores the intersection of music, writing, and visual art. At its core, it is a collection of carefully curated playlists—each featuring exactly 13 tracks—designed to take you on an emotional and experiential journey. We’ve also expanded into a physical magazine publisher, inviting writers and artists to creatively respond to the music.

13tracks was founded by Kieron Faller, a music lover who has been making mixtapes, compilations, and playlists since childhood. The first 13tracks playlist was created in 2011, born out of the belief that connecting pieces of music thoughtfully creates something greater than the sum of its parts.

For each issue, we invite 13 writers and 13 visual artists or designers to respond to the 13 tracks of a specific playlist.

The contributions include poems, short stories, essays, photographs, paintings, collages, and sculptures inspired by the music.

No, the content isn't directly about the music. Instead, it explores the emotions, ideas, and images the tracks evoke.

The visuals and the writing are developed separately but presented alongside each other in the magazine, creating a multi-faceted relationship between sound, word, and image.
